Become an Envirothon NB Advisor

Choosing eco-friendly isn’t just a choice; it’s a commitment to a brighter, greener tomorrow.

Inspire the Next Generation of Environmental Leaders

Are you passionate about the environment and eager to help students explore real-world issues in science, sustainability, and natural resources? Envirothon NB gives teachers and students a chance to take learning beyond the classroom — into the field, forest, and community.

By combining curriculum-based learning with hands-on experiences, Envirothon NB connects students to the outdoors, deepens their understanding of ecology, and builds the skills needed to solve complex environmental challenges.

Why Become an Advisor?

As an Envirothon NB Advisor, you’ll guide your students through an exciting, inquiry-based learning journey that aligns with:

The GNB EECD Science curriculum
The UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
Courses such as Science, Social Studies, Environmental Science, Environmental Geoscience, Forestry, Agriculture and Aquaculture

Advisors say the experience is one of the most rewarding parts of their teaching year.

Work with motivated students who care about conservation and sustainability.
Learn alongside your students with resources and workshops led by professionals in the field.
Watch your students develop critical thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving skills that last a lifetime.

Many past participants have gone on to pursue careers in environmental science, forestry, natural resource management, and environmental law.

Worried About Time?

Don’t be!
Your role as an advisor is to guide and support — not to do it all. The most important commitment comes from the students themselves.

If time is a concern:

Team up with another teacher to co-advise.
Invite a parent or community volunteer with a passion for the environment to help out.

Once you see your team’s excitement and growth, you’ll know it’s worth every minute.

Support and Resources

Envirothon NB is coordinated by the Canadian Woodlands Forum and supported by a dedicated Provincial Steering Committee. We’re here to help you every step of the way!

Advisors receive access to:

Study materials and virtual workshops for each topic area
Guest speaker connections and field learning opportunities
Video sessions with specialists and ready-to-use classroom activities (coming soon!)
Hands-on field days that give students real-world experience in environmental science

Whether you’re new to Envirothon or returning for another great year, you’ll have the tools, guidance, and community you need to succeed.
