Feb 18 – Exploring Green Careers (This is open to students, teachers, and public interested in learning more about careers in natural resources and environment, they do not need to participate in Envirothon NB to attend)

We’re excited to announce our upcoming “Exploring Green Careers” special event happening on February 18, 2023 at Resurgo in Moncton, NB from 10am-4pm. This is a great opportunity for students and teachers to learn about the various career options available in the fields of Soils and Land Use/Geology, Aquatics, Forestry, Wildlife and Climate Change Adaptation.

At the event, you will have the chance to participate in hands-on activities and get up-close with the equipment and tools that exhibitors use from different organizations in these fields. You will be able to learn about their career pathways and gain valuable insights into what it takes to succeed in these careers.

Don’t miss out on this inspiring opportunity to learn more about the world of green careers. We hope to see you there!

Call for Volunteers – International NCF-Envirothon 2023 hosted by New Brunswick in July!

About NCF-Envirothon

New Brunswick is proud to be hosting the International NCF-Envirothon competition during July 23-29, 2023 at Mount Allison University!

Each year, over 25,000 high school students across the United States, Canada, and China embark on a journey to find creative solutions to this critical question through the NCF-Envirothon!

The Envirothon is an international environmental and natural resource problem-solving competition that builds leadership experience for high school students (grades 9-12 or ages 14-19). Incorporating STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) principles, experiential learning and hands-on outdoor field experiences, the Envirothon program encourages students to expand their knowledge and explore environmental education and natural resource conservation in the areas of Aquatic Ecology, Forestry, Soils and Land Use, Wildlife and Current Environmental Issues.

Emphasizing hands-on learning and real-world application of concepts, Envirothon students can be found getting their hands dirty in a soil pit, measuring the basal area of a forest, collecting macroinvertebrates in a stream to determine water quality, identifying wildlife tracks and/or signs and many other skills and activities used by environmental and natural resource conservation professionals. Students learn directly from these environmental and natural resource professionals, introducing the students to a wide array of higher academic study and careers in the environment, natural resources and conservation.
